Canal Structures
There are specific engineered designs for permitted canal structures. This includes jetty/pontoons, piles and boat ramps. As a property owner, you must first consult with Marsden Cove Canals Management Limited (MCCML) and seek to obtain written consent from the management company, prior to erecting ANY structures in the canal or the canal front yard. Application Forms for consented structures are found below.
Boat Ramps
A specific set of guidelines must be adhered to before installing a jetty or boat ramp within the canal front yard and easement. This is to ensure we meet our Resource Consent obligations in accordance with the Resource Management Act 1991.
The authorised design for a jetty or boat ramp must comply with the standard requirements in accordance with the Engineering Diagrams and Specifications in the easement attached to your property Title.
Example of the Stage 5 Canal Profile can be located on the button above. If you require further guidance, please get in touch.
All pontoon and pile installations must obtain written approval from MCCML or their representative and must adhere to engineering and building material specifications.
Prior to the commencement of any works, please complete a Pontoon/ Pile Application Form that can be located on the button below and emailed to admin@marsdencovecanals.co.nz
To comply with our Resource Consent obligations in accordance with the Resource Management Act 1991, only consented structures will be given Marsden Cove Canals Management Limited (MCCML) approval for installation.
Structures such as Boat Lifters and Jetski Lifters are not considered consented structures under our current Resource Consent. If you would like more clarification around what structures are consented and what structures are not, please get in touch with us.
Private Boat Ramp
Property Owners in Finch Street & Fred Carr Place have access to a private boat ramp and jetty at the end of Finch Street. Key access is managed by MCCML and their representatives.
Private boats ramps can be installed in the locked stages, enabling easy access to the canal. The standard boat ramp is 3.5m in width and will consist of a concrete base extending to the low water mark. Management must be notified of works commencement date so all canal front Property Owners can be notified with a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice.
All boat ramps installations must obtain written approval from MCCML or their representative and must adhere to engineering and building material specifications.
